NitroSell Invited to Attend Steve Ballmer "Online Opportunity" Briefing in LondonPosted 1st Oct, 2007 Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer came to London, UK today to announce a new startup fund for the UK, called the "Microsoft Startup Accelerator Programme". NitroSell President Tom Keane was invited to attend. After his talk, Ballmer chatted with Tom Keane about NitroSell's success in using Microsoft's new "Software plus Services" (Microsoft's take on SaaS) paradigm to Web-enable Microsoft Dynamics RMS and POS, as well as the experiences the company is having in applying the same approach to two of Microsoft's ERP products, Dynamics GP and Dynamics NAV. NitroSell will be showcasing its its Dynamics offerings at the premier Microsoft Dynamics event Convergence in Copenhagen (23-25 October 2007). Microsoft's dynamic Claire O'Halloran helped organize an event today in London, in which Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced a new startup fund for the UK, called the Microsoft Startup Accelerator Programme. The programme, which already exists in the US, is to encourage startups and to promote Microsoft technologies to them, such as Silverlight and Windows Live Services. A handful of UK firms are kicking off the programme, including ClusterSeven, Skinkers, Tao, ViaPost and mydeo (another lastminute off-shoot). Ballmer made his announcement at “The Online Opportunity”, a session that looked at industry challenges and issues facing Internet startups in the UK, and that featured dot-com luminaries such as Ben Way (Making Rain / ViaPost), Brent Hoberman (lastminute), Saul Klein (Index Ventures / Seedcamp), Cary Marsh (mydeo), and Ryan Carson (Future of Web Apps). Tom Keane is congratulated by Steve Ballmer Gordon Frazer, Microsoft's new UK Managing Director, took the photo! ![]() Lars Lindstedt, who runs the UK Software Economy and Emerging Business programmes at Microsoft, is heading up the Accelerator Programme. Microsoft invited folks "who don’t always agree with Microsoft and their online strategy", which meant the event was an interesting discussion that generated some great question-and-answer interchanges and conversations.
